152 Employment Relations Authority determinations, newest first.
A contractual claim asks the Authority to decide what an employment agreement means or requires, without a personal grievance: for example whether a bonus, commission, allowance, notice payment or redundancy compensation is owed under its terms. The Authority reads the agreement objectively, for what it would convey to a reasonable person with the background knowledge the parties had, rather than for what one party privately intended. Where money is found to be owed it can be ordered paid; otherwise the Authority may declare what the agreement requires.
