Caleb Kiriona v Te Pukenga – NZ Institute of Skills and Technology
Caleb Kiriona brought personal grievance and breach of contract claims against his former employer, Te Pūkenga – New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology, after it ended his fixed-term employment early for redundancy and paid him the balance of a four-week notice period rather than salary to the end of the term. The Authority found his claims were not made out, and he challenged that determination in the Employment Court. After the parties settled, the Court set aside the determination, and a later costs determination, by consent.
