Deiderik (Didi) van Heerden v Longevity Construction Limited
Diederik van Heerden, a construction operational manager, was made redundant by Longevity Construction Limited, and the Authority found the dismissal unjustified and ordered remedies, penalties and costs, including a penalty against the company's sole director, Anthony Corin. The company and Mr Corin challenged the determination in the Employment Court, which stayed enforcement on conditions, including that the sums were paid into court; when nothing was paid into court, the Authority issued compliance orders. The challenges were later discontinued and the Court ordered costs against the company and Mr Corin.
