GRAEME CASEY v UPLIFTING HOMES LIMITED
Graeme Casey brought a personal grievance against his former employer, Uplifting Homes Limited, claiming unjustified dismissal, unjustified disadvantage, and a breach of the Wages Protection Act 1983. The Authority found Mr Casey's dismissal was justified but upheld his disadvantage claim and the wages breach, awarding him $15,000 in compensation plus $404 in wage arrears. Uplifting Homes Limited challenged the determination in the Employment Court, and the parties later reached a full and final settlement; the Court set the Authority's determination aside by consent and the terms of settlement are confidential.
