Xi (Robert) Chen v Bread of Life Christian Church in Auckland

Xi (Robert) Chen, senior pastor of Bread of Life Christian Church in Auckland, claimed he was unjustifiably dismissed when three of the six trustees stopped his salary, treating his fixed-term agreement as expired. The Authority found the dismissal unjustified and reinstated him; he was dismissed again five days later, and that claim was removed to the Employment Court. The Court, deciding the trust's challenge and the removed claim together, found he was the trust's employee, held both dismissals unjustified and ordered his reinstatement.
