Hamilton City Council v Allan Halse

Hamilton City Council sought compliance orders and penalties against its former employee Allan Halse and his advocacy company, CultureSafe NZ Limited (in liquidation), over social media posts it said breached a 2014 record of settlement. The Authority ordered both to comply and imposed a penalty on each. Mr Halse challenged the determination in the Employment Court, which ruled on recusal and non-party discovery, left the penalty against him in place, and then fixed costs against him.
