Harpreet Singh and Jaswinder Singh v Sri Guru Singh Sabha Auckland Incorporated

Harpreet Singh and Jaswinder Singh, two workers employed in a religious role at a Sikh temple, claimed wage arrears, holiday pay, a personal grievance and penalties against their employer, a religious organisation, which counterclaimed against them. The Employment Relations Authority found they had each suffered unjustified disadvantages, dismissed the counterclaim, ordered a penalty, and later made a compliance order. The respondent challenged in the Employment Court, which made a consent judgment resolving the challenges on the basis of the Authority's sums.
