Yunpei (Sophia) Chin v Andrew Yong trading as Yong & Co Chartered Accountants

Yunpei (Sophia) Chin, an accounts clerk, claimed that her employer, a chartered accountant trading as an accountancy practice, constructively dismissed her, meaning her resignation was treated as a dismissal caused by the employer's conduct. The Employment Relations Authority upheld the claim, and the Employment Court, on the employer's challenge, also found a constructive dismissal and raised the compensation. A later application by the employer for a rehearing of that challenge was dismissed.
